History
Miniature Pinschers are a German Breed, and are no relation to the Doberman Pinscher. Miniature Pinschers were around long before the Doberman. Originally bred to catch vermin, they have over the years become a wonderful companion dog. The are a large dog in a small package, strong, alert, fearless and proud, giving its all to defend it's name "The King of The Toy Breeds.

In Germany, they were once referred to as the Reh Pinscher, after a small red deer in that country. Careful research has lead us to believe this breed originated from the Short Haired German Pinscher, possibly the Manchester was bred in to further reduce size. Dachshund also added size reduction and is probably where we get the red and stag red colors. This breeding became very popular with the ladies of Germany, though not as small and elegant as they wanted them, so Italian Greyhound was bred in to give them the slick and refined lines that we see today. They are a manufactured breed, with a lot of attitude, and intelligence. They have become a very popular breed in today's world, capable of tracking, obedience, and agility. With their show me attitude and willingness to please, they make the perfect show dog. Whether in the show ring or at home as a beloved pet, they put forth their all in everything they do and are totally devoted to those who love them.
